Blade VI: Final Thoughts

Another Great Event

The Blade Bags and Ball Tournament and Fundraiser was once again a huge success! By all accounts, the park stayed full, and the collection baskets continue to be filled. The celebration of the life of the great Steve Hess, and the aforementioned fundraiser in his honor, was once again the place to be. I didn’t make it Friday PM, but I was there Sat AM, Sat PM, and Sun 10-1ish…I was happy to take it all in…once with the kid…once with the wife…once alone… couldn’t draw it up any better. Congrats to everyone involved in the delivery of this phenomenon. Well done…take a bow. And thanks to everyone who showed and donated and supported, and played.

Final Thoughts:

The weather was perfect. Seriously.

The Blade VI shirts and logo were so good. Old-school trading card Blade in some Ty Cobb-looking Dons uni. And really unique colors. Just a great look as usual.

I love chirping at guys like Jonny B. Goode and Jackson Jones. Good KTown dudes that you’ve known since they were kids…both could have easily grown up to be assholes…and both are just the coolest dudes you ever wanna come across.

Scott Covelli makes the entire softball tournament. Thanks a big statement. That’s a true statement. I like to think I know good when I hear it…that man on the mic for that whole tournament, wall-to-wall and never miss a beat. Rare air.

Thanks to Jody for not only letting us get 11 points on you in the first round of bags but also for being the only other dude, other than me, to have the Blade Benefit wristband from Saturday…still on the wrist Sunday afternoon.

Could be just me, but it seemed like the people with the most responsibility on Blade weekend, seemed a little less stressed than usual. I hope for their case, I’m right.

The line of the weekend, uttered by the King Basement Benchwarmer himself:…”once a year, they dust off the calves”

The prize table was fantastic, and I know some fundraising continues, huge thanks to all who donate and bid

Blade VI served as a great fundraiser for those most in need…Blade VI showcased some of the best bags, ball, and bullshit in 5 counties. Blade VI kept its spot as a signature event of the summer, and most importantly, Blade VI was another celebration of the life of the great Steve Hess…see you at the other Side someday Don.
