For anyone rolling up and down Highway 50 lately, you KNOW there is always something happening at The Tipsy Kiwi. This past Sunday was no exception. Football Sundays are usually pretty well populated…The NFL Ticket…free chili and hot dogs and a friendly environment usually make for a house-full. Well this past Sunday, The Kiwi took some time to recognize a couple of local heroes who put their well-being at risk to stop an unfortunate incident that took place in The Kiwi a while back. There was food everywhere even though I personally did not tear into any of it…it looked amazing. I know Vatos Tacos was one of the entities supplying food for the patrons. There was a basket raffle, a 50/50 raffle and a meat raffle. I personally struck out on all entries but they gave away some great stuff and people were pretty jacked up when their number was called. They even had the chicken-shit game Chicken Maneuvers going on outside under the big top tent that they had workin. Wonderfully controlled chaos crossed with a Packer victory and a Bear victory led for a loud crowd. What a great atmosphere.
You will see all types of people at The Kiwi. The place is home to a rugby club known as The Kenosha Mammoths Rugby Club. I have no clue about the sport other than it seems like a good way to me to end up with a headache. But, when you have a bar known as The Tipsy Kiwi, it stands to reason that you might attract some rugby hooligans. The place is also home to a biker club known as The Wolf Pack. Now Wood_Don says being a part of a biker club is on his Bucket List and allegedly it starts by knowing the names of at least 2 members. And he has definitely got that covered. The fact that the only bike he has operates with pedals could be an issue but if anyone was ever an honorary biker dude, it’s him. As for me, my message to The Wolf Pack is, “you had me at OOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWW”. There is a special bond between friends who howl together. The Kiwi is also home to us! The 30 year-old KDFFL fantasy football league has anywhere between 3 and 8 active and former members in The Kiwi every Sunday. And the fact that me, Wood, and Wee combined don’t live a mile away from the place is nice too.
So come and join the Sunday Funday happening all the time at the Tipsy Kiwi. I really don’t know the owner that well but she seems like a great business person who also happens to be a great person person too. They are having fun and breaking records up on the corner of Hwy 50 and 60th. So much fricken fun I had to park over by Dominoes and walk to the party. As for the other dude in that photo who is posing…I’m quoting Don_Weeze when I say, “yo dude, Jackie O called, she wants her sunglasses back!”. Jello Shots for everyone!!!!
