So last week my wife Linda and I were able to announce a proud parents moment when we shared the news that our middle daughter Katelyn was recently named the Head Women’s Volleyball Coach at Antigo High School in Antigo, WI. Well, we got another one of those proud parent’s moments to announce and being a lifelong resident of Kenosha and aware of the local paper, I’m going to go ahead and not wait on any headlines to be posted there. Our youngest daughter, Jessica Hegewald, has recently been named the Co-Head Coach for the Kenosha Bradford Women’s Volleyball Team starting in the Fall of 2023. She takes over the program with her father. Jessica and her dad have been the coaches at Lance Middle School the past 4 years.

Jess had a very good career as a player in middle school and high school and when the opportunity arose a few years back to take over the Lance program, Jess took the lead and was all-in. She immediately took over all of the on-floor operations and practice format. The Lance program has an .872 winning percentage in her time there and has won or tied for every regular season championship at the JV and Varsity level. She is the vocal, spiritual and emotional centerpiece of the program and will undoubtedly take that energy with her to the North Side of KTown. “I want to thank the Bradford Athletic Director, Coach John Ruffolo, for this amazing opportunity we have been given”, said Hegewald, “I look forward to continue working with my dad and working on building Bradford Volleyball into a consistent contender for championships”.

Jess has one daughter, Layla Hegewald, and they have a cat named Clark. When not coaching, she is a CSR for an FBO at Chicago Executive Airport in Wheeling, IL.
