The Tipsy Kiwi: NFL Football 2025…Dons Are Back

After Sullivan’s closed, the Fantasy Football Dons were homeless. Scattered to the four winds like Proximo and his band of warriors from the movie Gladiator. But with the opening and excellence of the Tipsy Kiwi, The Dons have returned to The Coliseum…..”oooooh, you should see the Coliseum, Swa-niard…”. And while the young lady who owns the place may not exactly resemble Marcus Aurelius, she is certainly the Empress of her particular venue. And yea, you heard some news about an unfortunate incident that took place there recently…we all have. It was explained, it made sense, Don_Weeze investigated the incident to the fullest with available online information (cause that is what Don_Weeze does), and while what happened is extremely unfortunate and being handled exactly as it should be, it does not deter The Dons one bit in terms of making our triumphant return back to our “Coliseum”.

I personally didn’t make it into The Kiwi until last snow season. My wife and I went in and hung out for about an hour. Some of the first people I see in there are the Cowboy dudes. Die hard Dallas fans and just the coolest bunch of people to watch football with. First words to me were “Where you guys at?? Why ain’t you here?? This place is GREAT!”. They were not lying. The place is wide open with that middle island that used to be there, gone! It is similar but not the same. It is upgraded but it is still old-school. It has that typical KTown corner bar feel but is also a safe haven for all NFL fans of every team. There was one dude in there Sunday with a Browns hat on and our representatives (who had control of the remote EARLY in hour one) made sure that man got to watch his team. That is how we roll. There are enough TVs that everyone can watch their favorite team…you just gotta move your seat to that TV…too hard to bring the game to the TV where you are sitting.

And the old friends in there were a sight for old eyes. The aforementioned Cowboys fans…super people and they are usually there in numbers…Redskin Jim (note to Jeff Thomas, Redskin Jim is a former Sports Buff champion!!). My guy Adam and his new friend were there. Multiple Dons were in attendance…Eick…Juga…Wood…Wee and even an early appearance by the Chunky Monkey. My middle kid popped in…it was a Week 1 throw-down at the KTown Wonder Down Under!! Simply stated, if you are a football fan, The Kiwi is the place for you. If you play fantasy football, The Kiwi is definitely the place for you. Bears fans, Vikings fans, Lions fans…don’t matter, all are welcome and all are treated with respect. When the Dons infiltrate a speakeasy to watch the noon games on a Sunday, we operate within the guidelines of the Fallacy of Composition…what is good for one is not necessarily good for all. We’ll get your game on; you just might have to move over a seat or two for the direct line-of-sight desired.

I’m sure when the new owners purchased the Kiwi, they had no idea a loose knit (and loose-in-the-head) bunch of Dons would be coming home…but “Momma…momma I’m coming hoo-oooo-ooome”. And if Week 1 is any indication of the consistent feel and vibe of our “Coliseum”, then as long as the Kiwi is there, the Dons will be there..and we are some regular and some loyal MFs, I know that much.  Don’t sleep on the Kiwi…and sure as hell don’t sleep on the Kiwi for all of your Sunday football needs. The KTown Wonder Down Under is the place to be at, on Sundays, in the Fall!!
